Study of aftershocks sheds more light on Fox Creek earthquake

Researchers at the University of Calgary were able to measure aftershocks after the January 2015 earthquake near Fox Creek. The measurements have led them to determine that the earthquake was human induced, based on its depth. As this Edmonton Journal article explains, both the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Alberta Geological Survey have indicated that they believe the earthquake was related to hydraulic fracturing in the area.
