Study finds bears embrace wildlife crossings in Banff

Grizzly bears and black bears in Banff National Park are making using of the wildlife crossings designed to keep them away from the Trans Canada Highway. The crossings have been used by about 20% of the total bear population within the last three years. As reported in this Calgary Herald article, the results indicate to researchers that there is enough habitat connectivity with the crossings to keep the ecosystem healthy for the bear populations.
