Tainted water poured for hours before broken Suncor pipe sealed

Waste-water leaked from a broken pipe at the Suncor plant in the oilsands, then entered the Athabasca River. As explained in this Edmonton Journal article, the pipe pumped wastewater into the pond for some time before the break was detected and the flow of waste-water halted. River water has been tested for contamination, and the results will be released in the coming days.
