More blue-green algae warnings have been issued for Alberta lakes. According to this article from the Edmonton Journal, Pigeon Lake is the latest local lake to have the toxic algae blooms this summer. Possible reasons for the algae, and for recent fish deaths, may include sewage run-off, increasing use of fertilizers, and lack of drainage for the lake's water.
