Train kills two young grizzly bears in Banff National Park

Two yearling grizzly bears were killed by a train late last week, reports the Calgary Herald. The bears, who were walking on the tracks in a boggy area, were struck and killed late Friday night; because of the darkness, the engineer was likely unable to see the bears. Parks Canada has a program in place, partnering with Canadian Pacific, to reduce the number of bear fatalities on the tracks through Banff.
