U of A water expert urges focus on phosphorous in fight against blue-green algae

University of Alberta scientist David Schindler has published a paper in Proceedings of the Royal Society of London indicating that his research shows that eliminating phosphorous in lakes is the most effective way of limiting the growth of blue-green algae. In this Edmonton Journal article, Dr. Schindler explains the research, and addresses the issue of whether nitrogen is something that also needs to be considered.
