UAlberta scientists help public avoid health risks of blue-green algae

Early detection of the presence of blue-green algae in Alberta lakes could help the public avoid health risks associated with the blooms. As explained in this UAlberta News article, a new testing protocol is being used by scientists that can detect the presence of cyanobacteria at an early stage. In the future this data could also be used to help predict algal blooms, and point to some of the factors that cause them.
