Robert Sandford, chairman of the UN Water for Life Decade initiative, is calling for a national flood prediction program in Canada. As reported in the Calgary Herald, Sandford's suggestion is that the June floods in Alberta were not unpredictable. Using new technology and modelling as well as better monitoring, Sandford suggests that a flood-prediction program could work.
