Video - The Journey to Edmonton's Agriculture and Food Strategy: The Activist's View. Presentation by Elizabeth Smythe

Elizabeth Smythe presented the activist's view of urban agriculture and food policy development at Food Secure Canada's November 2012 assembly. She described the timeline for the growth of the Greater Edmonton Alliance, one of the key non-profit groups providing input to the City of Edmonton's strategy for agriculture and food.

Dr. Elizabeth Smythe is a professor of political science at Concordia University College of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta where she has taught international relations and comparative politics since 1989. Her publications and research projects have addressed the negotiation of investment agreements at the WTO and the OECD and transnational movements of resistance to these negotiations and their use of information and communication technology. Current research projects include an examination of the significance of the World Social Forum for networks of resistance to trade agreements and the negotiation of international trade rules and standards for food labelling.
