Shannon R. White is the Biodiversity Specialist for the Land-use Framework Regional Planning Branch for ESRD. She discusses Biodiversity Management Frameworks (BMFs), including indicators, triggers, monitoring and management response and reporting.
The regional BMFs are part of a greater whole that include the Canadian Biodiversity Strategy at the national level and the Biodiversity Policy outcomes and programs at the provincial level. They are intended to meet outcomes established in regional plans, with landscapes being managed to maintain ecosystem function and biodiversity.
White explains the organizations that conduct the monitoring, and what organization leads and reports on the status of the management response. She discusses the four categories of indicators and that the sources of information for the indicators come from geospatial imagery and field monitoring programs. This presentation was a part of the Alberta Soil Science Workshop, for February of 2015.
