Part 1 of 2
Catherine Mah is the assistant professor of Health Policy at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and her presentation is about how city-regions are leading in food, health and the environment at a time when the food supply is stressed and 1.7 million Canadian families experience food insecurity.
Mah and her fellow researchers see the future of food as being local in nature – for production and innovation. They are currently focused on observing, testing and scaling food related innovations to improve Canadians’ access to healthy food options. She talks about the role of retailers, and how healthy food stalking choices impact the local economy and health of consumers. This presentation was a part of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists 11th Annual Banff Conference, March 31-April 2, 2015.
