On November 22, 2015 the Government of Alberta released their Climate Leadership Plan. The Plan was created based on recommendations from the Climate Change Advisory Panel.

The Climate Leadership Plan Progress Report 2016-17 provides an update on the actions taken and the progress made towards achieving the province’s goals.
This plan was created based on the findings of Alberta's Climate Change Advisory Panel which was formed in the summer of 2015. The panel heard from a wide range of Albertans including the public, farmers, Indigenous communities, academia, think-tanks and industry representatives on a new climate change strategy for Albertans.
