We hope to aid rural communities in bringing awareness to the issue of rural homelessness and developing evidence-based practical strategies to reduce or end homelessness.

This step-by-step guide to estimate homelessness in rural communities was developed by the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) through an Innovation microgrant from Employment and Social Development Canada. This guide incorporates cost-conscious, cost-efficient and reliable practices that cater specifically to the aspects of rural communities and the surrounding areas. The guide utilizes a new method for creating unique, anonymous identifiers for clients, and conforms to all necessary privacy and ethics regulations for Canada. With this step-by-step guide, we hope to aid rural communities in developing strategies to solve rural homelessness and to bring more awareness to homelessness in those rural communities. The ARDN is interested in wide-spreading this guide across Canada.
