Dr. Dan Heaney, PAg, is VP of Global Agronomy, Farmers Edge. An array of technologies (remote sensing, telematics, robotics, GPS and GIS) are converging into integrated systems capable of collecting data intensively at the the field and field parcel level. This data can drive decision support systems based on advanced analytics. Dr. Heaney explores current and future uses of Big Data in cropping system management. Benchmarking among fields and farms is a benefit of this level of monitoring and analysis.
