At the Foothills Research Institute's caribou workshop, held January 12-13 2012, Dr. Stan Boutin from the University of Alberta presented the research of Dr. Vic Adamowicz of the U of A on the subject of Economic Analysis of Threatened Species Conservation. This presentation provided a different perspective on caribou conservation, based on economic costs and benefits, what the public would be willing to pay, what trade-offs the public is willing to make. Research is ongoing.
