Video - Water resource study: West central Alberta. Presentation by Ben Kerr and Brad Hayes

Ben Kerr and Brad Hayes present information on an integrated water inventory for west central Alberta. The project, funded by PTAC, is to provide a comprehensive assessment of water resources to support unconventional oil and gas development in the Montney and Duvernay shales.

The assessment included surface water (the Upper Peace River, Athabasca River and North Saskatchewan River and their tributaries in the upper reaches). It also included shallow aquifers like the northern portion of the Paskapoo freshwater aquifer and deep saline deep aquifers, like the Cadotte in north west Alberta. The project includes plans for communications to the Water Planning Advisory Councils of the Might Peace, Athabasca, North Saskatchewan and Red Deer Rivers.

Brad Hayes and Ben Kerr's presentation was part of PTAC's Water Forum, June 11, 2013 in Calgary, Alberta.
