It appears that Alberta will not meet its emissions target for 2020, based on the current rate of change. As explained by this Edmonton Journal article, the emissions targets were set by the Government, which pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 million tonnes annually. As it stands now, the average for the past six years has been a reduction of about 5 megatonnes a year.
