Alberta takes big steps to protect against future flooding

The Alberta Government has announced plans for flood mitigation projects for the Highwood and Elbow Rivers. As this announcement indicates, the projects underway include a diversion channel around High River and a dry dam upstream of Calgary. Other funding will go towards feasibility studies for additional mitigation projects.
