Controversial logging project near Crowsnest goes ahead

A research project from the University of Alberta has approval to proceed in the south-west part of Alberta. The project is designed to investigate the effects of timber harvesting practices on watersheds, and will involve several methods of timber harvest. As this Calgary Herald article explains, there is concern that the project will disturb habitat for species at risk; however, the approved research plan has adhered to provincial requirements.
