Snowpack in Rockies melts four to six weeks earlier than normal

Monitoring stations in the Rockies are already snow-free - four to six weeks sooner than expected. The early melt means that rivers have already peaked, and their flows are lower than normal as well. As this Calgary Herald article explains, things are dry in many parts of Alberta right now, but some heavy rains could improve the situation. Signs are pointing towards a dry year, however.
