Study finds airborne contamination in Wood Buffalo directly linked to oilsands development

A study by the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association has traced airborne contaminants in the area directly to different aspects of oilsands operations. As explained in this Edmonton Journal article, the study shows where the contaminants originate, whether from tailings ponds sand, road dust, or human activities. The levels are not above Canadian standards, however researchers believe that being able to monitor the contaminants that closely will help ensure they don't exceed standards.
