Video - Atlantic-Gaspesie Caribou: Population trends & conservation challenges. Presentation by M-H St-Laurent.

At the 14th North American Caribou Workshop in September 2012, Martin-Hugues St-Laurent presented on the state of the Atlantic-Gaspesie Caribou (DU11). This Designatable Unit is the smallest in Canada, being isolated from all others. Population numbers are rapidly declining. Issues include increased predation and the effects of anthropogenic disturbance. A research program to describe their habitat, behaviour and challenges is underway to help support recovery efforts.

Martin-Hugues St-Laurent is Associate Professor in Animal Ecology at the Universite du Quebec a Rimouski
