Video - Early post-fire forage availability, residual patch distribution and habitat use of woodland caribou in the boreal shield of northern Saskatchewan. Presentation by John Kansas.

At the 14th North American Caribou Workshop held in September 2012, John Kansas presented results from research related to caribou in the boreal shield of Saskatchewan. Land areas and vegetation cover classes were described using Landsat TM imagery and field truthing. Aerial surveys were conducted to determine caribou distribution & feeding in the areas. The role of unburned residual patches and young forest stands are reviewed, related to presence of lichen.
