Video - Oil, Global Food and New Community Systems. Presentation by Michael Lewis.

At the Food Secure Canada conference in Edmonton, November 2012, Michael Lewis - Managing Director for the Canadian Centre for Community Renewal - talks about the global food system's addiction to oil. As a substitute for human labour, the global food system is extravagant in its use of energy. Cheap oil to produce cheap food. When we start to discuss the sustainability of our food system, Michael Lewis wants us to look at Japan's Teikei, "Food with the Farmer's Face on It". It is Japan's pioneering (1965) efforts in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
