The 2017 Annual Conference aims to support those engaged with building resiliency through an engaging, collaborative, and thought provoking forum to explore this critical aspect of our shared futures. From celebrating successes, to sharing key learnings, to highlighting emerging research and best practices, this conference brings practitioners, policy makers, community leaders, students, and others with an interest in community and regional planning, together in thoughtful dialogue. |

Pro forma analysis is a technique that can provide practitioners with insights into the economic impacts of planning actions on real estate development. This session presents pro forma modelling as a framework for assessing the private sector financial feasibility of resilience initiatives that involve public and non-profit collaborations with developers. A basic pro forma for evaluating proposed developments is presented in a manner that is readily accessible to planners. A development scenario serves as the basis for exploring key components of the pro forma process including risk assessment, project valuation, rates of return, sensitivity analysis and land value residuals.
