This Quicknote from the Foothills Research Institute is a brief update on ongoing research being undertaken by the Mountain Pine Beetle Ecology Program. This particular research project examines the impact of prescribed burns on mountain pine beetle development in lodgepole pine forests; in particular, it looks at whether partially burned - but living - trees make it easier for the beetles to take hold.
