Mary Ellen Shain, watershed planner and project manager for the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance, discusses how they determined the condition of the riparian area for the Wabamun Lake.
A comparison was made between the health of reserve lands and private lands and possible restoration actions were provided and explained. They found a correlation between highly impaired riparian areas and development and suggested an educational campaign as a way to inform and improve the actions of the residents.
This presentation was a part of the Alberta Lake Management Society’s 22nd Annual Workshop in September of 2015 – which was co-hosted by Parkland County.
