Part 3 of 5
David Spiess, GIS Unit, Lead Engineer, for Alberta Agriculture Food and Rural Development (AAFRD), discusses the new Alberta Soil Information Viewer (ASIV).
Speiss explains how you can find similar soil types, once initial soil type and location has been found. From there you can get the number of soil series, a list of the different attributes, and the ecological framework. Land information can then be exported to a text file by using the import/export widget at the top of the screen. This information can then be used to query for more information about the land and soil in question.
This presentation was a part of the Alberta Soil Science Workshop: The Role of Soil in a Changing Climate, in February 2014.
