Darren Haarsma, ALUS program coordinator at Parkland County, discusses Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) projects, desired environmental outcomes, and the Sturgeon Headwaters Partnership.
He discusses the targeted environmental outcomes for the 190 acres enrolled, such as cleaner water, and the ways they are achieving them through education, regulation and incentives. Possible projects for the future for the Lake Isle Project are raised and include off-site waterers, wetland restoration, hen house installation and Native Grassland planting.
This presentation was a part of the Sturgeon River Watershed Forum. It was presented by the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance and the Sturgeon River Watershed Alliance in September of 2015.
