Chris Teichreb discusses Nutrient Budgets at the Central Alberta Recreational Lakes (CARL) Forum.
Nutrient Budgets are an accounting system for nutrients in a lake, determined by measuring the input of run-off, atmospheric deposition, groundwater and sewage, as well as the output of groundwater, diversions and surface outflow. This data sets current conditions to measure future changes against. Once nutrient inputs are known they can be controlled, which means limiting or preventing the growth of blue-green algae.
This presentation was a part of the CARL forum at the Pine Lakes Hub Centre, in May of 2014.
