Video - Development of monitoring tools to detect mountain pine beetle at low densities. Presentatin by Jennifer Klutsch

Jennifer Klutsch, Ph.D candidate in the Department of Renewable resources at the University of Alberta, discusses the development of monitoring tools to detect mountain pine beetles (MPB) at low densities at the edge of beetle expansion.

She focuses her talk on trap trees, and how they are used as a tool for MPB management, including detecting MPBs and monitoring population fluctuations. She explains the objectives for Phase I and Phase II of the research being conducted. This work includes improving the currently available commercial lures, and developing field protocol for the deployment of lures.

This presentation was a part of the Mountain Pine Beetle Information Exchange Forum in Edmonton, in April, 2015.
