At the 2012 Mountain Pine Beetle Ecology Program workshop, hosted by the Foothills Research Institute, Janice Cooke presented on The TRIA Project.
The TRIA Project is a large research project that has been ongoing since 2007. The project covers a variety of topics related to genomics and the mountain pine beetle, including population and physiological genomics and risk modeling (environmental and economic). Genomics is the science of looking at DNA, which can be done with many genes at once and/or many individuals at once.
Collaborators with the TRIA Project are from the University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, and the Canadian Forest Service. This two-part presentation provides and overview of the types of research currently underway.
Janice Cooke is one of the TRIA Project leaders, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta.
