Part 1 of 2
Dave Coates, research silviculturist for the BC Ministry of Forests, Land and Natural Resource Operations, talks about understanding the recovery and self-organization of Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) impacted stands. He discusses the operating land base in B.C. and the amount of land impacted by the MPB attack; factors involved in natural regeneration after MPB attacks such as canopy condition and seed source, and regeneration dynamics post-beetle – including expected regeneration rate.
This presentation was a part of the Mountain Pine Beetle Information Exchange Forum in April of 2014.
