At the Alberta Soil Science Workshop 2013, Sascha Bachmann presented research related to reclamation of temporary drilling pads. With Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) wellsites being the predominate technology for oil sands recovery in the future, the oil sands companies have begun to plan reclamation techniques for drilling wellpads that are in operation for only a winter season. A trial of new topsoil and LFH stripping techniques are reported in this presentation.
