Video - Lifecycle of a planner. Part 4. Presentation by Paul Bedford

Part 4 of 4

Paul Bedford, adjunct professor of urban & regional planning at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University, talks about the five stages of his career as a City Planner: the early years, learning years, management years, leading, and giving back.

He talks about how he is spending his time post-retirement, specifically the value of mentoring. He discusses the projected increase in population density in all major cities in Canada, and the creative thinking needed regarding buildings and transportation from the next generation of planners. He also shares information about the organizations he is a part of, and how he mentors youth through teaching at two universities.

This presentation was a part of the Alberta Professional Planners Institute Annual Conference, entitled “Lifecycle of a Planner”, in October 2014.
