And he raises his concerns about Canada`s emphasis on the UN`s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. He discusses the consequences of committing to implement the Declaration. The evolutionary development of people in relation to land and the implications for land rights are at the core of disagreements among indigenous peoples and government. Free, prior, informed consent is a point of debate. The Declaration may not involve the same balancing of interests that is involved in Canadian law. Prince Rupert is a case study.
