The BC Oil & Gas Commission has created this website - FracFocus - as a place to record information on hydraulic fracturing in that province. Details of fluids being used, as well as what means companies are using to protect groundwater and surface water, are included. As of January 1, 2012, public disclosure of hydraulic fracturing fluids became mandatory in British Columbia.
The website also includes some useful information about what hydraulic fracturing is, why the technique is used, and what chemicals are used in the process.
