Dr. Barry White outlines where Alberta's efforts will be going with LiDAR satellite imagery acquisition and wet areas mapping. After nine years of research, rather than wrapping up, new mapping initiatives are imminent, e.g. NE Alberta, New efforts linking reclamation of oil and gas sites and forestry production planning to wet area mapping are coming. Linking to other data sets (e.g. biodiversity data), releasing other raw data components for the wet areas mapping are all possibilities in the future.
Dr. Barry White is a Forest Management Specialist with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, His presentation was part of the Wet Areas Mapping Workshop, Calgary, Feb. 11, 2013.
