In the second part of his introductory lecture on Ecological Resiliency, Clive Welham describes how the concept of resilience could be applied to reclamation. It shifts the emphasis of reclamation from not just restoring vegetation but also restoring natural processes. Scale is important in considering natural processes. He contrasts the objectives of a resource management paradigm and a resilience-oriented paradigm. And he talks about institutional barriers.
