At the Foothills Research Institute's Caribou Workshop, held in January 2012, Dr. Subhash Lele of the University of Alberta presented a statistician's point of view on esimating caribou populations. Because precise counts of woodland caribou are hard to get, he raises the question of possible bias in interpreting long-term trends.
