At the 2012 LiDAR workshop, Jae Ogilvie - from the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Management, University of New Brunswick - delivered a presentation on his group's research into how LiDAR data was used in the aftermath of the Rainbow pipeline spill in 2011. Wet Areas Mapping data was used to predict the flow of contaminants from the pipeline, helping direct clean-up efforts to where they may be most necessary.
