Kevin Grover, regional technology lead for Stantec, discusses LiDAR, drones and photogrammetry. He explains how LiDAR works and provides examples of the various platforms: aerial, mobile, and terrestrial.
Work with drones at Stantec began two years ago, and is used as a new data collection tool. Changes to legislation from Transport Canada, such as the need to have a permit and fly during daylight, are discussed. He also highlights the benefits of photogrammetry – the science of making measurements from photographs.
