He then describes what are unconventional resources, how their production has changed the economy and the energy industry's future. He covers where shale oil and gas are in North America and Alberta and details how hydraulic fracturing is done in combination with horizontal drilling. He finishes by describing the directive and regulatory environment for unconventional resources and the opportunities for agrologists and environmental specialists.
