Video - Baby's breath removal project. Presentation by Sean Allen

Sean Allen, assistant environmental fieldman at MD of Bighorn, discusses the Baby’s Breath Removal Project. Since Baby’s Breath is an invasive species in Medicine Hat, the weeds were physically removed with an excavator and shovels. The project was a collaboration between the City of Medicine Hat, the Grassland Naturalists, Medicine Hat College, and Calfrac Well Services.

Each collaborator donated time, expertise or food, with Calfrac donating over 2 000 hours of volunteer labour to remove over 52,000 Baby’s Breath plants. This partnership of unlikely partners is presented as an example of the power of collaboration.

This presentation was a part of the Alberta Invasive Species Council Annual Conference and AGM, March 2015.
