Video - Ecological Resiliency of Alberta's Wetlands. Presentation by Dr. Suzanne Bayley

Dr. Suzanne Bayley makes the case that Alberta wetlands are a special case when considering ecological resiliency. It depends on the wetland class and the frequency of disturbance. Her experience is that they vary greatly in their resiliency. And wetlands can shift tropic states quite readily. The challenge of wetland restoration or wetland construction is illustrated by the stress index for storm water ponds.

Dr. Suzanne Bayley is a professor of peatlands and wetlands science at the Department of Biology, University of Alberta. Her presentation was part of a seminar on "Resiliency of Reclaimed Boreal Forest Landscapes, Jan. 22, 2013, sponsored by OSRIN and the Department of Renewable Resources, University of Alberta.
